Attendees will be informed and trained on the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act as well as the new changes to the minimum wage law of Maryland. Our speak will train and present on compliance with the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act, as well as updates to the Maryland Minimum Wage law that resulted from 2019’s “Fight for Fifteen” HB166/Chapter 10.

About our speaker

Matt Helminiak is the Commissioner of Labor and Industry at the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.  The division includes the Safety Inspections Unit, Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH), and the Employment Standards and Wage & Hour units.


Prior to joining the department in 2017, Matt spent his career in the family insulation business as Branch Manager and Sales Manager for USI Carroll Insulation.  


Matt holds a Master's in Business Administration from Loyola University in Maryland and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN with a double-major in Business Administration (with a specialty in Labor Relations and Organizational Management) and Art History.
