SHRM Howard County Mentoring Program

Our 2026-2026 Mentor Program is on pause

One primary way in which we advance the HR profession is through our work with colleges and college students. Our Mentorship Program runs October through April. Our Mentorship Program connects college students and/or emerging professionals with Human Resources practitioners, providing one-to-one mentoring as well as group sessions in which various facets of HR are presented and discussed.

Mentors encourage and counsel mentees by sharing their own experiences and knowledge of the HR profession. Mentees also share knowledge, while building networks and gaining experiential insights into the HR profession and the world of work. Several of our members who served as mentors during our inaugural Mentorship Program year shared that their participation in our Mentorship program was a highlight of their year with SHRM Howard County.

Do you have a contact at a Maryland college or know of a Maryland-based college student or emerging professional (less than 2 years HR experience) who may be interested in learning about the program? Are you interested in serving as a mentor?
